A tourist visa is usually issued for four weeks for single or multiple entry. In the case of a planned multiple entry, which does not include 30 days between the first departure and the second entry into Vietnam, a visa for the second stay must be requested. You must also carry a passport valid for 6 months after departure. The granting for a longer period and to the two or more times entry is possible with appropriate application and presentation of further documents for a higher fee, according to information from the Vietnamese Embassy. An extension or change of the validity of the visa in Vietnam is possible. With a valid visa, the foreigner is allowed to enter Vietnam via any official border crossing (airports, ports and land routes, ie the borders of Vietnam / China, Vietnam / Laos and Vietnam / Cambodia). Child entries in the passport of a parent are no longer valid. Every child needs its own identity document. According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the entry document must exceed the validity of the visa applied for by one month. As the Vietnamese diplomatic missions sometimes have different regulations, it is advisable to inquire directly there. German citizens do not need a transit visa.
