Bai Tu Long Bucht

Bai Tu Long Bay - is it worth a cruise?

Bai Tu Long Bay

The entire panorama before your eyes, huge and breathtaking. While you feel like you are overrun with tourism in Halong Bay, you will feel the opposite in Bai Tu Long.

One of the more remote destinations in North Vietnam, Bai Tu Long Bay is located in the east of Halong Bay near the Chinese border. A place that has become increasingly popular with travelers who want to experience quiet and authentic Vietnam.

The remote Bai Tu Long Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam, along with Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay.

It offers a similar no less breathtaking landscape than Halong Bay, but has fewer tourist attractions.Bai Tu Lung Bucht Unseen Vietnam Tours

A visit to Bai Tho Mountain was also very popular in the past. From here you could enjoy the panoramic view of the bay of Bai Tu Long from above.

Bai Tho Mountain Viewpoint

Due to the ever increasing crowds and to protect the environment, tourism operations on Bai Tho Berg have been prohibited since 2017.

And now you may be wondering what else there is to see in Bai Tu Long Bay and what makes this place so unique?

Let us find out.

According to legend, Emperor Jade sent a dragon mother and her children to help the Vietnamese millions of years ago when Vietnam was attacked by invaders.

After the invaders were defeated, the dragons fell in love with the peaceful seascape and decided to settle in the bay.

The place where the dragon mother descended is now Halong Bay, while the young dragons descended in Bai Tu Long Bay.

What distinguishes Bai Tu Long is the beauty of karst and limestone mountains that rise in a unique way out of the water or mystical caves.

While you feel like you are overrun with tourism in Halong Bay, you will feel the opposite in Bai Tu Long.

One is still a number of attractions that have retained their original charm.

Vung Vieng fishing village

Places that are open to the public such as the Thay Cave, the fishing village of Vung Vieng, the Thien Canh Son Cave, the Ang Du area and the Ban Chan beach, a bay that is recommended as a little-visited site off the beaten path. Here you can experience untouched landscapes with emerald green water and a white sandy beach.

How to get to Bai Tu Long Bay

Since the bay is very far from Halong town and Cat Ba Island, you can see the bay on a multi-day cruise or simply with a private tour. .

The weather in Bai Tu Long Bay

Tropical monsoon and coastal climate, the weather varies in 4 different seasons in the bay.

Spring lasts only two months in March and April, and is also the most beautiful season with cool to warm weather. Summer lasts from May to August with wonderful blue skies and emerald-green water, ideal for circumnavigating the islands.

In autumn September & October you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere. In the remaining 4 months it is winter and it is particularly suitable for travelers who want to take it easy and slow and enjoy the magical and mystical beauty.

May to June and August to September are rainy seasons.Kayaking at Halong Bay

There are various eventful Cruises to the bay with interesting activities such as swimming, kayaking, caving, rowing by boat, or visiting floating villages.

Bai Tu Long Bay is a truly remote destination for those looking for unparalleled experiences.

Binh Quoi Village Boat

Binh Quoi Village

Binh Quoi Village - The oasis in Ho Chi Minh City

On a property with lots of lawns, coconut palms, streams and cozy thatched huts, the village takes a look at the past few days in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.

Not everything is authentic here, but it reflects the original rural life in South Vietnam.

This village is perfect for escaping the hectic city for a few hours.

So, if you do not have time to visit the Mekong Delta, this is a great opportunity to take some nice pictures because this village offers beauty, relaxation and the legendary Vietnamese scenes that all Vietnamese visitors dream of.

The giant water lilies are an impressive sight.

Fortunately, you can stand directly above them on the Monkey Bridge for a closer look. They are the biggest leaves we have ever seen. Some have a diameter of 2 meters!

And this water wheel is literally fascinating.

The beauty of the bamboo, the flowing water, the rhythmic movement and the soothing sounds literally make stress disappear.

What can you do here?

  • fishing
  • Sightseeing along the river
  • Relaxing in a bamboo hut by the water
  • Strolling through the traditional village and the park / gardens
  • Enjoy a meal in a floating restaurant
  • make many great pictures!
The restaurants are open every day and there is a special buffet dinner on the weekend. It offers a wide selection of classic Vietnamese dishes and costs 290,000 and $ 13.

Address:
Binh Quoi Village
Ward 28, Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The best time to visit is on weekdays in the morning.
Binh Quoi Village is ideal for solo travelers, couples and families.

Private tours by car

Especially if you travel in small groups or with your family and have children, a private vehicle is the best choice. For example, a private car Book a visit to Binh Quoi Village in combination with the authentic and little-visited Ben Duoc Tunnels.

The travel preferences are very different, but we believe that most visitors will like the village of Binh Quoi. It offers a few fun pleasures, but the most outstanding feature of the village of Binh Quoi is its rustic beauty.

We also recommend this place as an oasis of relaxation.

Mekong Delta – Ricefield Lodge

Mekong Delta -Ricefield Lodge

In 2018 a dream was realized in the Mekong Delta. This small paradise is home to over 500 fruit trees, numerous ducks, geese, chickens, cats and dogs.

How the Mekong Delta - Ricefield Lodge was created.

Martin our friendly host and proud owner was born in Augsburg (a small town about 60 km from Munich). He looks back on a career as a professional chef / master chef with 40 years of professional experience in various restaurants and small hotels in Germany.

After a long and hard work, he decided in 2014 to give up everything in Germany, with the idea that work can not be everything. He traveled around the world in the following years to find the inspiration for his future life.

He visited many beautiful and incredible countries like Cuba, Senegal, Gambia, Oman, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam etc.

In doing so, he discovered the "hidden charm" of Vietnam - a beautiful country. After a long trip around Vietnam from the South Mekong Delta to the North Sapa, he falls in love with the country and the local people.

Because of Ho Chi Minh City - the metropolis of millions became too loud after 1.5 years, he started to build his cozy lodge in the country to realize his childhood dream as a farmer.

Super offer to discover the Mekong Delta - Ricefield Lodge!

Upon request we arrange the private transfer.

Conclusion:

The Mekong Delta - Ricefield Lodge is a place where the real "authentic" vacation still takes place.   Everything is still very original and not affected by tourism. The people are extremely hospitable and welcome every guest warmly. As you can meet the cheers of the kids here on the streets at any time, you sometimes have the feeling of being a pop star.

The Saigon Waterbus

The Saigon Waterbus - All you need to know

In 2017, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) opened a new public transport system. A water bus line along the Saigon River.

To facilitate the terrible traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, the local government has allowed water taxis to operate on the Saigon River, which have been operating between District 1 and District 9 since 2017.

Originally intended for commuters, the water taxis are now mainly used by tourists.

We looked at the water taxis last weekend, and booked a ride to the terminus in Linh Dong and back. For now you should expect long waiting times or book in advance. We waited more than 3 hours to get hold of one of the coveted spots in Saigon Waterbus.

The 40-minute boat ride, which runs along the Saigon River and Thanh Da Canal, picks up passengers at a total of 5 stops belonging to Districts 1, 2, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc. There are five ships with 75 seats in operation. Every day from 8:30 am to 6:15 pm, 15 cruises are offered along the 10.8 km long route.Saigon Waterbus

Taking a water taxi, and one of the best and cheapest transportation options for anyone wanting to explore the city's skyline, past District 1 into the city center, District 2's new emerging metropolitan area is turning into the quiet suburb of Thu Duc District.

"There are also proposals to open new lines connecting the center of Saigon with the two neighboring districts of Cu Chi, Can Gio and Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) to boost tourism and reduce congestion"

In addition, investors suggest using electric cars to help tourists and residents move from stops to popular hotels, destinations and vice versa, such as Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, City Museums, etc.

The journey ends in District 9 north of the city. We recommend that you buy the return ticket for the return trip to District 1, as there is not much to see at the last stop.

Price: 15,000 VND (0.66 USD)

Departure times 8:30 am to 6:15 pm

You can find the timetable and the route map of the Saigon Waterbus here. To book tickets, call the hotline at 1900636830 or come by in person. Be sure to book in advance, as it can sometimes lead to hours of waiting.
