The old town of Hoi An

The old town of Hoi An is the heart and soul of the city. Here you can stroll through the narrow streets and admire the colourful houses, which are characterised by various influences: Chinese, Japanese, French and Vietnamese. The old town is also a paradise for shopping enthusiasts, as you will find countless shops selling everything from customised clothing to handicrafts and lanterns. A special experience is to visit the old town at night when it is lit up by thousands of lanterns.
The Japanese Bridge

The Japanese Bridge is the landmark of Hoi An and one of the most famous sights in the city. The bridge was built in the 16th century by the Japanese community to connect the Japanese neighbourhood with the Chinese one. The bridge is a masterpiece of wooden architecture and has a characteristic curved shape. In the centre of the bridge is a small temple dedicated to the weather god Tran Vo Bac De. The Japanese Bridge is a popular photo motif and a symbol of the harmonious coexistence of different cultures in Hoi An.
The tunnel houses
The tunnel houses are another speciality of Hoi An's architecture. They are narrow and long buildings that extend over several blocks and often have several functions: Living, working and trading. The tunnel houses are witnesses to the history and everyday life in Hoi An. Some of the most famous tunnel houses are Tan Ky House, Phung Hung House and Quan Thang House. In these houses, you can admire the traditional furniture, decorations and craftsmanship and learn more about the families who have lived here for generations.
The temples and assembly halls
Hoi An was an important trading port in Southeast Asia and attracted many traders from different countries, especially from China. These traders founded their own communities and built magnificent temples and assembly halls to worship their gods and ancestors. These buildings are still preserved today and are some of the most beautiful sights in Hoi An. Some of the most impressive temples and assembly halls are the Fujian Assembly Hall, the Quang Trieu Assembly Hall, the Trieu Chau Assembly Hall and the Chuc Thanh Temple.

The weather in Hoi An
The weather in Hue is hot and dry from mid-January to the end of August, with maximum temperatures exceeding 30 °C. Rainfall increases in the winter months, especially in October and November. Typhoons can also occur in the region during this time.
How to get to Hoi An ?
Hue has good transport connections and is easy to reach by plane, bus and train. Within the city, most sights can be easily explored on foot or by bike.
The right time to visit
We recommend the months of February, March, April and May as the best time to visit central Vietnam around Da Nang, Hue and Hoi An. The weather is ideal at these times. Daytime temperatures between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius offer the best conditions for a great holiday. You don't have to worry about much rainfall during these months. The number of rainy days per month is between three and six. From May onwards, temperatures rise again dramatically. If you can't stand temperatures of up to 34 degrees Celsius, you should avoid travelling between May and August. Overall, the months from January to August are a very acceptable time to travel, as the dry season prevails. The rainy season lasts roughly from October to December.
