The weather in Sapa
Sapa has a temperate and subtropical climate with cool air all year round.
The weather in the city offers four seasons in one day: Spring weather in the morning, then there is often light sunshine at noon and mild climate like summer weather.
Clouds and fog fall in the afternoon, making it feel chilly like fall. Winter is usually cold, covered by misty cloud and it sometimes snows when the temperature is below 0 ° C. Sapa commune is one of the rare places in Vietnam where there is snow.
How to get to Sapa ?
The best way to get to Sapa from Hanoi is by train. Many people take an overnight train that arrives at Lao Cai station. From there, it's another 1-hour uphill ride by minibus or cab to Sapa, 1600 meters above sea level. Since 2014 there are also plenty of bus connections.
The right time to visit
The best time to visit Sapa is from March to May and September to November. However, Sapa is most beautiful to visit from May to September, when the rice terraces are particularly green. However, you should bring warmer clothes at all times of the year, as Sapa has four different weather zones.
