Tra Su Cajuput Forest

The Tra Su Cajuput Forest

Only 30 km southwest of Chau Doc lies the Tra Su Cajuput Forest, one of the most beautiful destinations in the Mekong Delta.

The Tra Su Forest is an ecosystem of cajuput trees and a flooded mangrove forest that provides a breathtaking backdrop to the plants and animals of this paradisiacal park. Tra Su Forest Trees

The swamp area is a perfect location for hundreds of species, from plants, fish, snails, crabs, frogs to aquatic life, providing food for the overlying storks and other birds.

Tra Su Forest

Tra Su Cajuput Forest is home to an estimated 140 species of plants, 70 species of birds, 11 species of animals, 25 species of reptiles and 23 species of fish.

There are some hiking trails in the forest and an area with a viewing platform worth a walk.

On the way through the park there are many different species of birds to watch and often one sees beautiful lotus flowers - the floral symbol of Vietnam.

We stayed in the Luxe Hotel, a beautiful brand new hotel in Chau Doc.

It takes only 10 to 20 kilometers from Tra Su Forest to reach the famous spiritual tourist attraction of An Giang, such as Nui Cam, Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Pagoda and the Cham Mosques on the Hau River.

What alternative is there to the usual travel offers?

Private tour by car

Especially if you travel in small groups or with your family and have children, a private vehicle is the best choice. You can rent a private car to book Tra Su Cajuput Forest or the beautiful forest easily with a private tour of the Mekong Delta .

Address: Tinh Bien County, An Giang Province, Việt Nam.

The Fito Museum in Saigon

The Fito Museum in Saigon

The museum is one of the most beautiful and entertaining museums we have been in for a long time.

The Fito Museum in Saigon is the first museum on traditional Vietnamese medicine. On display are nearly 3,000 Stone Age objects. The exhibits include tools for making medicines, knives, mortars and pestles, as well as documents and items from a traditional pharmacy.

Exponate Fito Museum

Exhibits Fito Museum

The hidden gem, which many locals do not even know, is set in a secluded alley with private homes, small businesses and cafes. Apart from the intense and unique collection of artifacts, the façade itself is a true work of art. The entire building conveys the atmosphere of a traditional North Vietnamese house . The 18 rooms with distinctive architectural charm on 5 floors are connected by a front and a rear wooden staircase.

Fito Bilder

Fito Museum exhibition

In addition, the First Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine (FITO) regularly features a documentary film about the history of traditional Vietnamese medicine entitled "A Century of Healthcare Experience"

The Fito Museum has a large number of old books on traditional medicine, including many rare book series such as: Nam duoc than hieu, Y tong tam tinh, comprising 28 episodes and 66 volumes. Many tourists, even experts from Korea, China and Japan, visited the museum and found it very admirable and interesting.

Traditional costumes in the museum

Conclusion: It is worth a visit to get a fascinating insight into traditional Vietnamese everyday life and medical development through the centuries. At the end of the tour you will be invited to a cup of healthy herbal tea prepared by the nice staff.

Binh Quoi Village

Binh Quoi Village - The oasis in Ho Chi Minh City

Nestled in a charming park with coconut palms, streams and cozy thatched cottages, the village offers views of the bygone era of the Mekong Delta.

On a property with lots of lawns, coconut palms, streams and cozy thatched huts, the village takes a look at the past few days in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.

Not everything is authentic here, but it reflects the original rural life in South Vietnam.

This village is perfect for escaping the hectic city for a few hours.

So, if you do not have time to visit the Mekong Delta, this is a great opportunity to take some nice pictures because this village offers beauty, relaxation and the legendary Vietnamese scenes that all Vietnamese visitors dream of.

And the entrance is free!

The giant water lilies are an impressive sight.

Fortunately, you can stand directly above them on the Monkey Bridge for a closer look. They are the biggest leaves we have ever seen. Some have a diameter of 2 meters!

And this water wheel is literally fascinating.

The beauty of the bamboo, the flowing water, the rhythmic movement and the soothing sounds literally make stress disappear.

What can you do here?

  • fishing
  • Sightseeing along the river
  • Relaxing in a bamboo hut by the water
  • Strolling through the traditional village and the park / gardens
  • Enjoy a meal in a floating restaurant
  • make many great pictures!
The restaurants are open every day and there is a special buffet dinner on the weekend. It offers a wide selection of classic Vietnamese dishes and costs 290,000 and $ 13.

Address:
Binh Quoi Village
Ward 28, Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The best time to visit is on weekdays in the morning.
Binh Quoi Village is ideal for solo travelers, couples and families.

Private tours by car

Especially if you travel in small groups or with your family and have children, a private vehicle is the best choice. For example, a private car Book a visit to Binh Quoi Village in combination with the authentic and little-visited Ben Duoc Tunnels.

The travel preferences are very different, but we believe that most visitors will like the village of Binh Quoi. It offers a few fun pleasures, but the most outstanding feature of the village of Binh Quoi is its rustic beauty.

We also recommend this place as an oasis of relaxation.

Quy Nhon - The most beautiful beaches

HOW I FOUND THE PARADISE IN VIETNAM!

Quy Nhơn - why had I never heard of you? Quy Nhon is one of the best places for a beach vacation, a taste of local cuisine or exploring the Vietnamese Cham culture

Quy Nhon, the quiet seaside town that fortunately has not yet been visited by many tourists, is surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Fishing is the main industry in Quy Nhon, which makes it a great destination for all lovers of seafood.

Apart from sightseeing and eating seafood, swimming and relaxing on the beach is the best thing Quy Nhon has to offer. After all, the city is flanked by beautiful beaches.

Quy Nhon beaches

The famous Ky Co beachLocated just 25 kilometers from Quy Nhon, affectionately known by local tourists as "the Maldives of Vietnam". The beach offers a tropical landscape and pristine beauty with crystal blue sea.

Ky Co

The Bai Xep beach It runs north along the coast on Highway QL1D and is only 10 km from Quy Nhon. Although visitor numbers at Bai Xep have been steady for many years, they have increased dramatically in recent years, and there is currently a great deal of interest in Bai Xep, a beautiful, sheltered bay for budget travelers.

Trung Luong - The nicest picnic spot in Binh Dinh. About 30 km from the town of Quy Nhon, the picnic area is located in Cat Tien, Phu Cat District.

Gieng Tien (The Fairy Fountain), a popular place in Eo Gio.

From a vertical rocky cliff a fresh stream of water flows down and creates a circular hole on the foot. Locals believe drinking water here brings great happiness.

Quy Hoa an almost deserted dreamlike beach a few miles south of Quy Nhon.

Quy Hoa Beach

The beach is located a few kilometers south of Quy Nhon. To get there, take the main street of Quy Nhon, drive south over the pass and then turn left onto Science Avenue towards International Science Center.

Quy Nhon offers endless hours of tranquility, beautifully combined with an adventurous nature and a simple but colorful culture.

The best time to travel to Quy Nhon

To make the most of your stay in Quy Nhon, plan the visit between January and March. The later you come in the course of the year, the hotter it gets. If you do not mind the heat, the summer months are great too Travel time because there are fewer other visitors.

Traveling in Quy Nhon

As a small coastal town, you can easily walk to the center of Quy Nhon and the nearest beach. If you are planning day trips, it is better to rent a bike or scooter. Many hostels and hotels provide bicycles free of charge. Please ask at check-in.

Especially if you travel in small groups or with your family and have children, a private vehicle is the best choice. You can also rent a private car to visit the less visited beaches.

City of Ghosts - The Village An Bang

The Village An Bang and the City of Ghosts

Find out all about the City of Ghosts near Hue, away from mass tourism.

Hue is a city with a long history and culture is definitely worth a visit. However, few people know about the An Bang Cemetery (Nghĩa Trang An Bắng in Vietnam), also known as the City of Ghosts.

About twenty kilometers east of Hue City lies the largest cemetery in the country.

After the reunification of Vietnam in 1975, many residents of An Bang Village emigrated to Europe and the United States. From there, they sent money back to their relatives, making it one of the richest villages in Vietnam.

The cemetery with its colorful structures on the white sand stretches over a length of 3 kilometers.

From Buddhist-style temples to gothic tombs with a lot of Romanesque columns, the cemetery's aesthetics are: anything is possible. Remarkably, many tombs in An Bang are duplicates of Nguyen Kings tombs and the royal citadel of Hue.

The last time we visited An Bang Cemetery, nobody was there. The cemetery was empty and we could explore and admire it undisturbed.

If you are looking for a unique place, be sure to visit An Bang Cemetery. You will be able to tell a great story for your loved ones at home.

In this "realm of the earth," it's normal for someone living on a piece of land to build their own tomb.

We recommend the An Bang Cemetery as an alternative half day tour from Hue. A unique, and not touristy place.

Our private vehicles are always available for you throughout Vietnam. We will gladly make you an individual offer according to your personal wishes and ideas. Just write us where you would like to go.

The exact location of the City of Ghosts can be found below:

There are two different tunnels in Cu Chi

A non-tourist route to the Cu Chi Tunnel

You do not have to book a group tour to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. Experience the Cu Ci tunnels in Ben Duoc far from mass tourism.

Most information about the Cu Chi tunnels does not make it clear that there are two different locations to explore the tunnels. If you book a trip, you will most likely be taken to Ben Dinh tunnels.

Due to its proximity to Saigon, this place has become a tourist trap and offers a less authentic experience.

An alternative not yet overrun by tourists, the still authentic Ben Duoc tunnels are located just north of Saigon.

Join us to explore the authentic Cu Chi Tunnels in Ben Duoc.

On your journey through the tunnels you will not only hear fascinating stories about the history of Vietnam, but also learn what the life of the soldiers was during the war.

The Viet Cong set up many booby traps on the tunnels to prevent them from being found by American troops.

To get around this, the Americans started to use sheepdogs to track down these traps, but the Vietcong were smart enough not to be tracked down by these dogs. The Viet Cong started using American soap to distract the dogs.

The tunnels played a big role in helping the Vietnamese win the war for their independence.

As part of the excursion, you can try manioc, which was the staple food for guerrilla warriors in Cu Chi. If you want you can practice with an AK47, MK16 or a machine gun at the nearby shooting range (not included in the price).

It has been said that the Vietnamese will lose the war when the Cu Chi tunnels fall. If they persevere, they would win the war.

What alternative is there to the usual travel offers by bus.

Cu Chi tunnel by boat

If you are interested in a boat tour, you can e.g. at a Speedboat Tour take part. (This tour takes you to the Ben Dinh tunnels but is highly recommended because of the very varied boat ride)

Private Cu Chi Tunnel tour by car

Especially if you travel in small groups or with your family and have children, a private vehicle is the best choice. You can rent a private car , or book a private Tour with your personal guide to the authentic and little-visited Ben Duoc tunnels from $ 89. Divided by 4 with your friends or family are the e.g. only about $ 22 per person.

Both Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc tunnels have the same opening hours but different entrance fees.

Opening hours: daily from 8am to 5pm.

Entry fee Ben Dinh: 110,000 VND (about $ 5)

Entry fee Ben Douc: 90,000 VND (about $ 4)

If you need more information about transfer by car, you will find it here

The secret Vietnam War Commando bunker in Saigon

The secret bunker in Saigon

Hidden in the secret bunker of the Saigon Commandos of the Vietnam War are nearly two tons of weapons

Once a hiding place for nearly two tons of Saigon Commandos weapons during the spring offensive and 1968 uprising, the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street little house was declared a National Monument of Culture in 1988.

The bunker is located in a house on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Road, District 3, HCMC, and was used to hide the arsenal of Sai Gon Commandos. Among them are about 2 tons of weapons, which were prepared for the Tet Offensive (January 1968).

Previously, this house was bought by Tran Van Lai (Lai Lai - May Hong Que) and he secretly trained there. At that time, to avoid suspicion, he used the excuse to repair the toilets. He took his wife and children to Go Vap (another district of Ho Chi Minh City), stayed alone in the house and spent the nights building his bunker.

In order not to arouse suspicion, the rubble from the ditch was kept in boxes and disposed of in a car.

After 7 months, the bunker was finished, 8 meters long, 2 meters wide, 2.5 meters deep, and a thick layer of waterproof cement. The bunker has emergency exits, and has numerous vents.

On November 16, 1988, the "Remains of the Armory of the Saigon Rangers Tet Independence Palace 1968" was recognized as a national monument of culture.

After the bunker was completed, weapons were hidden in it, which were in wooden coffins, fruit and flower baskets.

The house is located on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Road, 287/70 District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

Entrance fee: free

Opening hours from 8:00 clock

Tip: Be sure to be there early as the bunker is well frequented.

Ao Dai Museum Saigon Ho Chi Minh City

The Ao Dai Museum in Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City

In 2014, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) opened an Ao Dai Museum. inspired by the artist - designer, Sy Hoang

In the past, Ao Dai was often worn by Vietnamese women as well as men. Today, however, it is usually only popular with women. Over the decades, Ao Dai has had a long history and many changes. To preserve these interesting stories for the next generation, an Ao Dai Museum was opened in 2014.

Designer Hoàng said it took him 12 years to establish the museum thanks to his love of traditional clothing.

„Die langen Gewänder haben ästhetische, historische und kulturelle Werte“

The museum is also the scene of many cultural and artistic events inspired by Ao Dai. Visitors can experience the process of making an Ao Dai from the first to the last stage here.

The Ao Dai Museum is not just a gallery for exhibiting and storing, but also for exploring, collecting and archiving the materials. Here you will find numerous pictures and artifacts of the Vietnamese Ao Dai from different times.

In the museum visitors can see 500 long dresses from different eras, from the first drafts in the 17th century to the modern designs of today.

"If you are interested in culture, fashion and traditional clothing, you should plan a visit to the beautiful AO DAI Museum in Hcmc (Saigon)"

From the basic design of the 17th century, the dress has changed from Le Mur's 1930's long-sleeved dress, hippie-long design in the 1960s, and other designs inspired by different cultures of the world.

Located in Long Thu Thuan Garden, District 9, the 2-hectare museum features traditional wooden architecture with rice fields, bamboo bridges and lotus ponds.

Address: 206/19/30 Long Thuan Street, Long Phuoc Ward, District 9

Entrance fee: 100,000 VND for teachers 50,000 VND

Opening hours 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Monday Closed

Escape the hustle and bustle of Saigon, the museum can be reached by taxi from District 1 in about an hour.

Tip: If you do not have enough time to visit the Ao Dai Museum in District 9, you will find another smaller showroom in the city center. The showroom is located in the pedestrian street 77 Nguyen Hue Street, District 1.
